How To Make Chicken Puffs at Home

Puff pastry has been one of my most favorite snacks ever. Today on that note let’s see how to make Chicken Puffs at home with a simple, quick and easy method. Let’s start…

Ingredients of Chicken Puffs

500 grams puff pastry

For the Filling:-
1 cup Chicken mince
2 tbsp. Oil
1 tsp. Cumin seeds
½ cup onion chopped
Salt as required
1 tbsp. Ginger garlic green chilly paste
1 tbsp. Coriander powder
½ tsp. Chilli powder
½ tsp. Turmeric powder
¼ cup coriander leaves
¼ cup mint leaves

For the Eggwash:-
1 egg yolk
1 tbsp. water
½ tsp. Salt

2 tbsp sesame seeds

Method of Chicken Puffs

I’m going to take some oil in a pan. Heat the pan on moderate flame; as soon as the oil heats up, we’ll add in some cumin seeds. Once these begin to crackle, I’ll add in chopped onions, add some salt. 2-3 minutes we need to sauté these on high flame. Once the onions turn translucent I’ll add in crushed ginger garlic and green chilies. Cook this for another 2 minutes, then adding in the powder spices. In this case, I’m adding red chili powder, some turmeric and finally some coriander powder.
Now time to add in the minced chicken. The boneless breast of chicken which we have the hand chopped and not minced in a grinder. Fry this on high flame for 2-3 minutes. Don’t cook this completely, because it’s also going to get baked in the oven. I’ll turn the flame off when the mixer 90% cooked and add in freshly cut coriander leaves. Give it a nice mix and allows us to cool down completely.
Let’s move on to the puff pastry. It’s usually available in frozen form. We need to bring it down to room temperature and press it lightly with a rolling pin. I’ve rolled this into a sheet which is roughly around 3mm thick. I’m going to trim the sides off and cut it into three long strips. The next thing is to cut it into squares and now time to get in the cooldown stuff.
It needs to place spoonfuls right in the center. Around the edges, I’m going to apply some water with my finger. This will help in sticking the pasty together. Take the top sides to turn it over and press it on the other side.
The last step is to make the egg wash for which I’m going to use an egg yolk. To this, I’ll add in some water and along with this some salt. Whisk this together and apply this on top of the pastry using a brush.
Finally, I’m going to sprinkle some untoasted sesame seeds. Carefully place this it on the baking tray, time to bake these puff pastries in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius for 20 minutes.
The puff pastry is baked and ready; allow this to cool down for 5 minutes before you serve.
